Maynooth Parish Altar Servers

Congratulations to the new Altar Servers commissioned by Fr Tom on Saturday the 7th of March. The children were commissioned during the Do This In Memory Mass, it was great for the children due to make their First Holy Communion this year to see how they can serve the church when they are older

Any boy or girl who has received their First Holy Communion is welcome to become an Altar Server in the Church of St Mary’s and/or in Ladychapel. Prior to becoming an Altar Server, a short training programme takes place. The training programme aims to provide each child with the necessary skills to serve mass and other liturgical celebrations. This includes learning about the order of the mass, the vestments, the sanctuary, and the sacred books and vessels used. The new altar servers serve for the first time during the Christmas season in our parish. Altar servers are co- ordinated by the parents. Parish Child Protection guidelines are followed.
