Do This In Memory Mass – 17th of December

The third Mass for the Do This In Memory programme took place on Sunday the 17th of December. We celebrated the third Sunday of Advent which is also known as Gaudete Sunday.

The word Gaudete means rejoice. Pope Francis said in 2014 that Gaudete Sunday is known as the Sunday of Joy. It was lovely to see all the families at the Mass filled with joy as they prepared for Christmas.

Beautiful artwork was on display, made by the children from Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich. Twins from Gaelscoil Ruairí lit the rose candle on the advent wreath and Fr Frank wore rose-coloured vestments. Each child received a special candle after Mass which they can bring home and lit when they are praying with their families.

Everyone was invited back to the parish centre for a cuppa and some treats. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially the family Mass choir who provided the lovely music. We are now halfway through the Do This In Memory programme and excitement is building as the children look forward to making their First Holy Communion next April/May. Our next Do This In Memory Mass will take place on the 14th of January, it will be the children from Presentation Girls School turn to do the jobs.  Remember everyone is welcome.
