Thanks to everybody who attended our Consultation meeting on 12thJanuary in the Pastoral Centre.   There was a very positive response to our proposal to employ a Parish Youth Leader. We were very heartened by the level of support and encouragement.

We also discussed in some detail our initial thoughts on improving the grounds. It was agreed that we need to take on board people’s concerns about poorly arranged car parking, disabled access,  the positioning of the grotto, and the possible damage to the church foundation as a result of drainage issues. We agreed that all will be considered fully and incorporated into our discussions with the planning authorities.

Our next steps for both initiatives are to commence fundraising, firm up on our plans for the grounds and commence the recruitment process. The latter is totally dependent on parishioners’ financial support. We would ask everyone to consider increasing their regular contribution to make this happen. An extra €10 per month from everyone would more than cover the cost. Please don’t leave it to a few. A parish youth leader would make an enormous difference in helping to nurture our faith among our young people, a person who could work with priests, teachers and parents to help children and young adults grow in all aspects of life, including spirituality.  We are at a crossroads, and we believe that this should be a vital focus of our parish over the next few years.
