Greetings from Sr. Roisín Gannon [Aquinas]

Letter from Sr. Roisín Gannon [Aquinas] on the Celebration of the Presentation Sisters in Maynooth.

From Newfoundland, I sent you love and congratulations on your 200th anniversary. It is a wonderful occasion and calls for great celebrations of a rich history. I am only too sorry not to be present. Maynooth was my first appointment when out of college and having spent 25 wonderful years there it holds a special place in my heart. When I first went to Maynooth, it was a small town with a big school.

I take this opportunity to thank the Sisters with whom I lived, the Teachers with whom I worked, and of course, the children (now adults) who impacted my life so very much. You taught me well! I thank you, the parents for entrusting the care of your children to me all those years ago. I have many happy memories. I often think I could fill a book with lots of profound stories and funny ones too. Some of our past pupils of those years have gone on to their Eternal reward, all too young. I remember each of you and send love to your families.

I think of you all today and I see you in my mind’s eye.

May you enjoy your celebrations over the next few days. May you be blessed in many ways and may Nano walk beside each of you and guide you with her Lantern. You have kept Nano alive and well and I am proud of you.

With much love and best wishes,

Sr. Roisín Gannon (Aquinas)
