Dublin Diocesan Food Appeal

every Sunday during Advent

Hundreds of people in our communities are in urgent need of help. For the past number of months, the Crosscare Food Bank has not been able to keep up with the demand for food from people in need. The Food Bank gives food to services for homeless people and young people, to local community food banks and charities such as the St Vincient de Paul. Last year, they gave out 500 tonnes of food. So far this year they have needed 750 tonnes. In response to this growing need, we are asking you to bring non-perishable food items to the church every Sunday during Advent. Types of food urgently needed include: pasta/rice, fruit juice, tea/coffee, soup, sugar, powdered milk, tinned meat/fish, tinned veg/fruit, packaged desserts, biscuits and hygiene products.

This appeal was launched by Archbishop Martin on the feast of St. Laurence O’ Toole, who dedicated so much of his life as Archbishop of Dublin to feeding the poor and marginalized.

Please bring your items into the sacristy in St Mary’s Church or Ladychapel. Crosscare will collect all items from Maynooth parish every Monday.

Please do what you can to support those most in need in our communities at this difficult time for so many.
